NHS Girls Swim and Dive Team Frequently
Asked Questions
The following are recurring questions and answers. If you have any other
questions or comments, feel free to reply to this e-mail.
All of our activities (including fundraising) are used to help bond the
team members (and parents). The car washes are the first opportunity for
freshmen to meet and interact with the rest of the team. Friendships start
at this point and get nurtured throughout the swim season, into the rest of
the school year, and beyond...
Q: Do the swimmers generally work the entire car wash or can they
just work a part of the day?
A: For each car wash, there are two shifts: 10am-1pm and 1pm-4pm. Each
swimmer should attend at least one shift. (If they are enjoying themselves,
we will not complain if they stay for the entire day.) Please remember to
use SUNBLOCK!!!
Q: Do the swimmers need to provide any supplies (like towels) for the
car wash?
A: Supplies will be provided (including towels). If you have any old
towels that you would like to donate, we will gladly accept them.
Q: Do the swimmers have to bring food to the car wash?
A: Yes, the expectations are as follows: Freshmen: fruit (watermelon,
grapes, etc…), Sophomores: vegetables (carrots, broccoli, etc…), Juniors:
deserts (cookies, brownies, etc…), Seniors: beverages (water, juice, etc…)
Q: Do parents have to help out at the car wash?
A: We always accept volunteers … it’s a great way to meet other parents …
need we say more…
Q: How does the team use the funds raised?
A: The funds are used to supplement all activities that are planned for
the year. The major consumer of funds is the year-end banquet (facilities,
food, decorations, gifts, and the list goes on) where the team members
attend at no additional cost. Black and Orange meet, sleepovers, fire-up
breakfasts, picnics, etc…, their costs are partially offset by our
fundraising efforts and the generosity of the supporting community.
Q: How may parents help?
A: We are always looking for volunteers. At swim meets, parents usually
announce the events, provide backup timing for the events, manage the
computer system, manage the post meet refreshments and snack table, and the
list goes on. At our fundraising events and any time that we interact as a
group, we will provide sign-up sheets for the needed volunteer positions and
any donations (above and beyond) that may be needed (ie: hosting
sleepovers).
Q: How may we contact you?
A: For the 2007 swim season, the team captains are the primary point of
contact:
